We ran a crew trip today for bluefin tuna. We start off looking for fish in the dark with jigs in hand but did not find anything worth stopping on until daybreak, at that point, we opted to troll finding quite a few meter marks, whales, and Bait. We ended up going 2 for 4 on hookups losing One Fish at the gaff that chewed through the leader. The Fish we have were nice ones including the two that were landed that tapped out around about 150 pounds each. I’m not running open load bluefin until we can get the nighttime jig fishing perfected. We will do Charters for bluefin. And if the albacore show up, we will be offering open load tuna trips for those guys.
We’re back out on the water starting Thursday for rockfish and ling cod.

Today we went off shore in search of Blue Finn Tuna. Weather was a bit bouncy but not too bad. Found some fish willing to bite about 20 miles south of the islands. We went 2 for 4 on hookups with one fish chewing through the line just below the surface. We managed 2 fish both around 150 pounds. Today was a crew trip and nothing that was scheduled. Just wanted to treat everyone to some fresh tuna. I will probably add some albacore to the schedule if they come in range. As for the Blue Fin trips are charter only at the moment.
We will be back out on the water Thursday for rockfish and lings.

We had the California Dawn 2 out at the islands today and found great success on the rockfish grounds. Lots of big ling cod in some flat calm weather. Rockfish was full speed , all you could ever want from a Islands trip
